Reference Photos You can start with a single good photo. For the refined stage we recommend bow, stern, port side and starboard side, plus an elevated or top-angle view where available. Scale Guide Figures below are representative for an approximately 24-foot boat. 1:72 — approx. 4 inches 1:48 — approx. 6 inches 1:32 — approx. 9 inches (most popular) 1:24 — approx. 12 inches (collector) Your finished size depends on your vessel. Actual length is your real boat length divided by the scale. A 36-foot boat at 1:32 finishes at about 13.5 inches, while a 24-foot boat at the same scale finishes at about 9 inches.
